Movies to watch before a trip to Universal Studios Orlando

As I’m sure you’ve deduced, Universal Studios theme parks were built to honor films. Nearly every single ride, character meet and greet, and world is based on a movie or television show. I’ve compiled a list of what movies are covered at each park, so you can be sure to watch as many of them as possible in anticipation for your trip!

Movies Featured At Universal Studios

Any movie from the Despicable Me/Minions franchise (Despicable Me Minion Mayhem)

The Bourne Identity series (The Bourne Stuntacular)

E.T. (E.T. Adventure)

The Mummy (Revenge of the Mummy)

Men in Black (MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack)

The Simpsons (The Simpsons Ride, plus an entire area of the park devoted to Springfield)

Transformers (TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D)

The Fast and the Furious (Fast And Furious - Supercharged)

Harry Potter series (Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ plus all of Diagon Alley)

You should also keep an eye out for character meets and references to movies and stars such as The Blues Bros, Back to the Future, Marilyn Monroe, The Godfather, Beetlejuice, Scooby Doo, Spongebob, Curious George, An American Tail, Woody Woodpecker, all things Dreamworks, Dora the Explorer, Secret life of Pets, Shrek, and so many more.

Movies Featured At Islands Of Adventure

Dr. Seuss- I realize this is not a movie per-say, but there is an entire land devoted to Dr. Seuss stories, so making sure your kids are familiar with The Grinch, One fish two fish, The Cat in the Hat, and the Lorax will make this land even more fun

Jurassic Park and World movies (Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Camp Jurassic, Pteranodon Flyers, as well as a meet and greet with the raptors, and more)

Harry Potter series (Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure™, Flight of the Hippogriff™, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, and all of Hogsmeade)

Kong: Skull Island (Skull Island: Reign of Kong)

There are also two lands devoted to a myriad of characters. One of them is an older toon/comic town, featuring Betty Boop, Cathy, Marmaduke, Popeye and the like. The other is the Marvel Super Hero Island, featuring Spiderman, Captain America, the Hulk, and various other marvel heroes, though it’s themed more towards the comics than the modern Marvel movie franchise.
